Kit 72167 puts the spotlight on the vehicles that moved equipment and supported armoured units, rather than the fighting vehicles alone.

Historical background

The Lancia 3Ro was an Italian heavy truck introduced in the late 1930s and widely used during the Second World War. Its diesel engine and substantial load-carrying capacity made it an important vehicle for the Italian armed forces, serving in transport and a variety of specialist roles.

Italian forces used the 3Ro in theatres including North Africa, where moving supplies and equipment over long distances was essential to keeping units operational. Heavy trucks were a vital link between depots and the front line, carrying the loads on which both infantry and armoured formations depended.

The combination depicted here adds a Viberti tank trailer to the 3Ro, highlighting the role of road transport in supporting armoured operations. It offers a useful contrast to a tank-only display and a starting point for a scene centred on vehicle movement, maintenance or a transport column.

Model details

Manufacturer: IBG

Scale: 1/72

Subject: Italian 3Ro truck with Viberti tank trailer

Period: Second World War

Theme: military transport and logistics

Kit number: 72167

Build a transport pairing for your Italian WWII vehicle collection, or make the truck and trailer the centrepiece of a small-scale logistics diorama.
