Its familiar silhouette makes it a rewarding subject for a small-scale armour collection or a vehicle-centred diorama.

Historical background

The M4A2 used a General Motors twin-diesel powerplant, distinguishing it from several other Sherman variants. Shermans combined useful firepower, mobility and a design suited to large-scale production, helping Allied armies equip and maintain their armoured formations.

The M4A2 served with the US Marine Corps and was supplied to Allied forces, including Britain and the Soviet Union. Its history therefore reaches beyond American service, offering modellers a subject connected with several different wartime armies. Choose a particular vehicle and theatre only after checking the configuration and markings provided in the kit.

A carefully painted Sherman can tell its story through dusty tracks, worn surfaces and the setting around it. In 1/72 scale, this model can sit comfortably alongside other Allied armour or form the centrepiece of a compact battlefield scene.

Model details

Manufacturer: UM Models (UniModel)

Scale: 1/72

Subject: M4A2 Sherman WWII medium tank

Kit number: 372

Model kit requiring assembly and painting.
