The Martin PBM Mariner was the US Navy's large flying boat patrol bomber of the Second World War and Korean War era, serving alongside the PBY Catalina in the anti-submarine and maritime patrol role. The 5A amphibious variant added retractable wheels for shore-based operations. Academy's 1/72 kit captures the Mariner's distinctive twin-engine, gull-wing layout with authentic Navy markings. A substantial model at around 410mm wingspan, and a less commonly modelled subject that will stand out in any USN collection.
