Explore a different side of the Spitfire story with the Airfix 1/48 Supermarine Spitfire Tr.9, kit A05143. The two-seat trainer retains the familiar lines of Britain's celebrated fighter while adding a second cockpit, giving it a distinctive appearance alongside single-seat Spitfires in a collection.
The Tr.9 is a training variant, not a photographic reconnaissance aircraft. Today, two-seat Spitfires are closely associated with heritage flying experiences and airshow appearances, allowing a new generation to share the experience of flight in this famous aircraft.
Released as a new Airfix tooling in 2025, this plastic model comprises 128 parts and offers two marking schemes. In 1/48 scale, the finished model has a wingspan of approximately 23.4 cm. Airfix rates the kit at skill level 2.
The additional cockpit makes this an appealing companion to a conventional Spitfire display, or a subject for modellers interested in preserved warbirds. Assembly and painting are required, with glue and paints supplied separately.
