Bring a British Cold War jet to your workbench with the Airfix 1/72 McDonnell Douglas Phantom FG.1/FGR.2, kit A06019A. Its twin-engine layout and distinctive profile make it a striking companion to other post-war RAF aircraft, capturing an important chapter in Britain's air defence history.
British Phantoms differed from their American counterparts through the adoption of Rolls-Royce Spey engines and the airframe changes needed to accommodate them. The FG.1 served with both the Fleet Air Arm and the RAF, while the RAF's FGR.2 was developed for a combination of fighter, ground-attack and reconnaissance duties.
This Airfix release comprises 161 plastic parts and offers three marking schemes. Cockpit features and panel lines provide detail for painting and finishing, while the undercarriage can be assembled raised or lowered to suit your chosen display. The completed model has a wingspan of approximately 16.2 cm, and Airfix rates the kit at skill level 3.
