The Atago was the flagship of Vice Admiral Kurita's First Striking Force and the first major Japanese warship lost at the Battle of Leyte Gulf, sunk by the US submarine Darter on 23 October 1944. The Retake edition features refined tooling for improved fit and decal accuracy. Aoshima's 1/350 Ironclad Series kit captures the Atago's distinctive Takao-class profile with authentic IJN markings. A historically significant subject for collectors of Japanese Pacific War naval vessels.
