The Chuyo was a Japanese escort carrier converted from the passenger liner Nitta Maru, used primarily for aircraft transport and anti-submarine duties. She was sunk by the US submarine Sailfish in December 1943. Aoshima's 1/700 Waterline Series kit captures the Chuyo's converted liner hull and flight deck with authentic IJN markings. A less commonly kitted subject that adds useful variety to a Japanese carrier collection.
