The F4F-3 was the fixed-wing, non-folding initial production Wildcat, serving at Pearl Harbor, Wake Island, and in the first carrier battles of the Pacific. Its pilots developed the Thach Weave defensive tactic to survive combat with the more manoeuvrable Zero. Arma Hobby's 1/72 kit captures the F4F-3's fixed undercarriage and early war markings. An essential early-war Pacific subject distinct from the later folding-wing F4F-4.
