The P-51C — designated Mustang Mk III in RAF service — was the first Mustang variant to combine the Packard-built Merlin engine with the definitive production airframe, transforming the type's high-altitude performance. It served with the RAF's 2nd TAF and with USAAF units including the Tuskegee Airmen's 332nd Fighter Group. Arma Hobby's 1/72 kit covers the Mk III with RAF and USAAF marking options. A historically pivotal Mustang variant.
