The Mitsubishi A6M Zero was the Imperial Japanese Navy's primary carrier fighter throughout the Pacific War, and the Model 52 Ko (A6M5a) was among the most refined late-war variants, featuring an improved wing cannon with belt-feed and a boosted roll rate. What makes this Fine Molds kit (FZ04) particularly interesting to collectors is that it specifically depicts Nakajima-built aircraft — Nakajima produced approximately 6,500 Zeros under licence, more than any other manufacturer including Mitsubishi itself. Subtle airframe differences between Nakajima and Mitsubishi production aircraft are captured in Fine Molds' characteristically precise 1/48 tooling.
