The S-38B was a development of the standard S-38 Schnellboot with improved anti-aircraft armament — a reflection of the increasingly dangerous Allied air threat as the war progressed. German S-boats (E-boats to the Allies) were among the most effective coastal warfare vessels of World War II, combining high speed, good seakeeping, and heavy torpedo and gun armament to threaten Allied convoys in the Channel and North Sea. This Fore Hobby 1/72 kit (1003) depicts the S-38B configuration and completes the Schnellboot trilogy alongside the 1940 (1002) and 1942 (1001) versions from ForeArt.
