The M727 is the tracked carrier variant of the MIM-23 Hawk (Homing All the Way Killer) surface-to-air missile system, which entered US Army service in 1960 and became the backbone of NATO medium-altitude air defence throughout the Cold War. The Hawk system was used by over 25 nations and saw combat in the Middle East, notably during the 1973 Yom Kippur War when Israeli Hawk batteries claimed multiple kills. The tracked M727 launcher offered superior cross-country mobility alongside wheeled system components. This ForeArt 1/35 kit (R5902) captures the distinctive triple-rail launcher and tracked chassis in impressive large-scale detail.
