The Austin K2/Y — "Katy" — was the British Army's standard heavy ambulance from the outbreak of war, serving in France with the BEF in 1940 and then across the Middle East and North Africa. Its high-sided body provided good protection for casualties and the four-wheel-drive chassis handled the desert terrain reasonably well. This Gecko Models 1/35 kit (35GM0068) depicts the early war version before the modifications introduced later in the conflict. It pairs naturally with the late war ambulance kit (35GM0069) for a comprehensive RAMC vehicle collection.
