The Cushman Model 53 was an unlikely but iconic piece of Allied airborne logistics — a lightweight utility scooter dropped by parachute with US paratroopers to provide the mobility that foot soldiers and glider-borne troops lacked after landing. Used extensively during Operations Market Garden and Varsity, it could tow the RL-35 cable reel cart for communications work. This Gecko Models 1/35 set (35GM0042) pairs the Cushman scooter and cable cart with a set of superbly sculpted US paratrooper figures, making it an ideal centrepiece for a 1944 NW Europe diorama.
