The Marder II (Sd.Kfz. 131) was Germany's urgent response to the shock of encountering Soviet T-34 and KV-1 tanks in 1941 — a field-expedient tank destroyer mounting the powerful 7.5cm Pak 40 on the obsolete Panzer II chassis. Simple, cheap, and effective, it gave German anti-tank units the firepower to stop almost any Allied tank at combat range. The early production version had a distinctive open-topped fighting compartment with a characteristic shield arrangement. This Gecko Models kit presents the Marder II in the impressive 1/16 scale (16GM0010), offering exceptional detail on the gun mechanism, fighting compartment, and running gear.
