The A10 Mk.IA CS (Close Support) was a specialist variant of the Cruiser Tank Mk.II, replacing the standard 2-pounder gun with a 3.7-inch howitzer for firing smoke and HE rounds in direct infantry support. Close support tanks were attached to armoured units to provide the HE capability that the 2-pounder anti-tank gun lacked, filling an important tactical gap. The CS version served alongside the standard A10 in France in 1940 and the early Western Desert campaign. This Gecko Models 1/35 kit (35GM0001) is the natural companion to the standard gun tank version (35GM0002).
