The F-4EJ Kai was Japan's upgraded Phantom — a comprehensive modernisation programme that gave the Japan Air Self-Defence Force's ageing F-4s a new lease of life with improved avionics, enhanced radar, and updated weapons capability well into the 1990s. This specific kit represents aircraft No.379 of the 306th Squadron, one of the JASDF's frontline interceptor units, captured in authentic markings that make it a particularly satisfying subject for fans of Japanese aviation. The Phantom's brutish, powerful lines — anhedral tailplane, drooped wingtips, upswept rear fuselage — have always made it a compelling modelling subject, and Hasegawa's 1/72 tooling brings it all together with crisp panel lines and precise decal registration.
