The Grumman F4F Wildcat was the US Navy's principal carrier fighter at the outbreak of the Pacific War, and the aircraft that bore the brunt of combat against the more agile Mitsubishi Zero in the desperate battles of 1941–42. Outperformed in many respects by its Japanese rival, Wildcat pilots nonetheless achieved remarkable results through superior tactics, armour protection, and sheer determination — most famously at Guadalcanal where a handful of Marine and Navy Wildcats held the line against overwhelming odds. The F4F-4 introduced folding wings for carrier storage and six machine guns. This Hasegawa 1/72 kit captures the Wildcat's stocky, pugnacious lines with authentic USN markings.
This kit is from our Preloved Collection. There is rubbing on the corners of the box. Sprues are complete. Instructions and decals are present.
