Hobby 2000 1/48 Hawker Typhoon Mk. IB "Car Door" 1942 (48042)

The Hawker Typhoon Mk.IB in its early "Car Door" configuration — named for the distinctive framed side-opening cockpit doors rather than a sliding hood — represents the troubled but promising first year of the type's service career. Beset by structural failures, engine unreliability, and dangerous resemblance to the Fw 190, the Typhoon of 1942 was nearly cancelled before its true vocation as a low-level interceptor and fighter-bomber was discovered. Hobby 2000's 1/48 kit captures this historically important early configuration with the characteristic framed canopy, early markings, and the massive Napier Sabre engine cowling that gives the Typhoon its unmistakeable bull-nosed profile.
A fascinating early-mark subject for Typhoon specialists and RAF wartime collection builders.
