The Curtiss P-40N Warhawk in the hands of the 49th Fighter Group became one of the most effective American fighter units of the Pacific War, producing more aces than any other USAAF group and racking up an impressive combat record over New Guinea and the Philippines. The 49th's aircraft wore the distinctive shark-mouth markings and bold squadron colours that have made them perennial favourites among aviation enthusiasts. The P-40N was the lightest and most capable production Warhawk, and in the low-altitude Pacific environment its performance was well-matched to the demands of the theatre. Hobby 2000's 1/48 kit presents specific ace aircraft markings with detailed moulding and a comprehensive decal sheet.
