The McDonnell Douglas F-4K Phantom FG.1 was the Royal Navy's carrier-borne air defence fighter throughout the 1970s, a British-adapted variant of the legendary Phantom featuring Rolls-Royce Spey turbofans and a modified nose undercarriage for the shorter catapult strokes of British carriers. Late-mark FG.1s wore a variety of striking fleet air arm colour schemes as the aircraft aged gracefully into the 1970s fleet defence role. Volume 2 of Hobby 2000's FG.1 series provides additional marking options for late-service aircraft, complementing Vol.1 and giving collectors the breadth of options the type's colourful service career deserves.
