The P-47M was the fastest production variant of the mighty Thunderbolt, developed specifically to intercept V-1 flying bombs and catch the new German jet aircraft that were outpacing standard P-47Ds over Europe in 1944–45. Powered by an uprated Pratt & Whitney R-2800-57 with water injection, it was the quickest propeller-driven American fighter of the war. The 61st Fighter Squadron was among the units that flew this sprint variant on escort and air superiority missions in the final months of the European campaign. Hobby 2000's 1/72 kit delivers the P-47M's massive radial-engine bulk and authentic 61st FS markings in a compact and highly detailed package.
A must-have for Thunderbolt fans and ETO collection builders.
