The Washington B.1 was the RAF's designation for the Boeing B-29 Superfortress, supplied to Britain under the Mutual Defence Assistance Programme in the early 1950s to bridge the gap before the V-bomber force came on stream. Eighty-seven aircraft entered RAF service, equipping several bomber squadrons and giving Britain a genuine strategic nuclear capability during the most tense years of the early Cold War. Hobby 2000's 1/72 kit presents this often-overlooked chapter of RAF history with accurate British markings and the well-engineered detail the Superfortress airframe deserves.
An ideal subject for Cold War or RAF collector-builders seeking something a little different from the standard USAAF schemes.
