The Pegasus-class patrol hydrofoil missile ships (PHM) were among the most radical surface combatants ever operated by the US Navy, capable of foiling onto their hydrofoils at speeds exceeding 48 knots while carrying a Harpoon anti-ship missile battery and a 76mm gun. Six were built and served from 1977 to 1993, primarily in the Caribbean and Persian Gulf on drug interdiction and patrol duties. Small, fast, and stealthy at low speeds on their displacement hull, they represented a unique chapter in US naval history. This HobbyBoss 1/200 kit (82006) is a rare opportunity to build one of these distinctive and short-lived warships.
