The Fleet Air Arm operated the Hellcat as the Hellcat Mk.I and Mk.II (corresponding to the US Navy's F6F-3 and F6F-5), using them extensively in the Pacific and Indian Ocean theatres from 1943. FAA Hellcats served with distinction in strikes against the Tirpitz in Norway, operations in the Indian Ocean against Japanese targets in Sumatra, and in the final carrier strikes against Japan itself in 1945. British Hellcats differed from their US counterparts primarily in their colour schemes — first Extra Dark Sea Grey/Sky then the British Pacific Fleet's white/dark blue scheme. This HobbyBoss 1/48 kit (80361) captures the Mk.II in FAA markings.
