The Boeing CH-47 Chinook is one of the most successful and long-lived tandem-rotor helicopters ever built, entering US Army service in 1962 and remaining in front-line service today. The CH-47A was the initial production variant, deployed to Vietnam from 1965 where it proved invaluable for heavy lift operations, recovering downed aircraft and delivering artillery pieces to remote firebases. Its distinctive twin-rotor configuration and sheer lifting capacity — over 10 tonnes in later variants — made it irreplaceable. This HobbyBoss 1/48 kit (81772) captures the original CH-47A in its early Vietnam-era configuration.
