The Challenger 2 is the British Army's main battle tank, entering service in 1998 and replacing the Challenger 1. Protected by second-generation Chobham (Dorchester) composite armour and armed with the L30A1 rifled 120mm gun — unique among modern MBTs in using a rifled rather than smoothbore barrel — it is one of the best-protected tanks in the world. Challenger 2s served in Operation Telic in Iraq in 2003 without a single loss to enemy fire. The tank has also been deployed to Ukraine from 2023. This HobbyBoss 1/48 kit (84852) captures the Challenger 2 in its standard British Army configuration.
