The Vought F4U Corsair was one of the finest carrier fighters of World War II, with a kill ratio of over 11:1 against Japanese opponents. The F4U-1A introduced the raised cockpit canopy that largely solved the early visibility problems of the original birdcage variant, while the F4U-2 was a night fighter conversion fitted with an AN/APS-6 radar in a wing pod. Both variants saw extensive Pacific service — the -1A with US Marines and the US Navy, the -2 pioneering night carrier operations. This HobbyBoss 1/48 kit (81788) provides parts for both variants in a single box.
