The Flakpanzer V Ausf.A was a self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicle based on the Panther tank hull, developed to provide mobile air defence for German armoured formations as Allied air superiority increased over the Western Front from 1944. Armed with four 20mm Flakvierling cannon in a rotating turret, it was intended to replace the improvised Flakpanzer IV Wirbelwind and Ostwind designs. Only prototypes and a very small production run are confirmed before the war ended. This HobbyBoss 1/48 kit (84832) captures this rarely modelled and visually striking late-war German SPAA vehicle.
