The Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf.F2 was a pivotal upgrade that transformed the Panzer IV from an infantry support vehicle into a capable tank destroyer. Fitted with the long-barrelled 75mm KwK 40 L/43 gun, the F2 could defeat the Soviet T-34 and KV-1 at combat ranges, restoring German tank superiority on the Eastern Front after the shock of encountering superior Soviet armour in 1941. It entered service in time for the summer 1942 offensives and gave German crews a significant firepower advantage until the T-34/85 appeared. This HobbyBoss 1/48 kit (84840) captures this important transitional Panzer IV variant.
