The Hurricane Mk.IIC Tropical variant was the four-cannon ground attack Hurricane adapted for desert and tropical service, fitted with a Vokes filter beneath the nose to protect the engine from sand and dust ingestion. It served extensively in the Western Desert, East Africa, the Middle East, and the Far East — where it equipped squadrons in Burma, Ceylon, and India fighting the Japanese. Nimble at low altitude and ruggedly built, the tropicalised Hurricane proved an effective ground attack aircraft in all of these demanding theatres. This HobbyBoss 1/48 kit (81779) captures the Mk.IIC/Trop with its distinctive desert filter.
