The KV-1 was the Soviet Union's main heavy tank from 1940 to 1943, effectively immune to most German anti-tank weapons in the early stages of Barbarossa. The 1942 model with heavy cast turret introduced a thicker, simpler turret casting to improve protection, addressing lessons learned from the 1941 fighting. Powered by a 600hp V-2 diesel and armed with a 76.2mm gun, it was a formidable opponent — though its weight made it prone to mechanical breakdown and difficult to recover. This HobbyBoss 1/48 kit (84813) captures the 1942 heavy cast turret variant.
