The Piasecki H-21 Workhorse — built by Vertol after Piasecki's reorganisation — was one of the first tandem-rotor helicopters to see widespread military service, its distinctive banana-shaped fuselage earning it the nickname "The Flying Banana". Used by the US Army and Air Force from the early 1950s, it served as a transport and rescue helicopter in the Korean War and was among the first helicopters deployed to Vietnam in the early 1960s with the US Army, before being replaced by the UH-1 Iroquois. The H-21C was the definitive Army variant with uprated engines. This Hobbycraft 1/72 kit (HC2302) is one of the few readily available kits of this historically significant rotorcraft.
