ORP Krakowiak was another of the Polish Navy's Hunt-class destroyer escorts, serving alongside ORP Ślązak in the Royal Navy's convoy escort and coastal defence operations from 1942 onwards. Named for the traditional Polish dance from the Kraków region, Krakowiak served with distinction through the North African convoys and the later stages of the war, her Polish crew maintaining their ship in fighting condition and continuing the struggle for their occupied homeland from the bridge of a British-built escort. The 1944 configuration represents the ship in her wartime configuration with the modifications and equipment of the war's middle period.
