The Bedford MWD in closed-cab configuration represents a later or theatre-specific variant of the Army's ubiquitous 15cwt truck, the enclosed cab providing better weather protection for drivers operating in the cooler and wetter conditions of North-West Europe and Italy. The practical difference between open and closed cab was significant for crews spending long hours at the wheel, and the closed cab version gives modellers a different variant within the MW family that reflects the diverse conditions in which this vehicle served.
