The Daimler Armoured Car was one of the best armoured cars of the Second World War — fast, well-armed with a 2-pounder gun, and reliable enough for the demanding work of reconnaissance in North-West Europe and beyond. The Mk.I entered service in 1941 and served from North Africa through Italy and North-West Europe, its low silhouette and excellent mobility making it ideal for the long-range reconnaissance patrols that kept Allied commanders informed of enemy positions. The Daimler's fluid-flywheel transmission and independent suspension gave it remarkable cross-country agility, and it remained in British service for years after the war ended. IBG's 1/72 kit captures the Mk.I with authentic markings from the reconnaissance regiments that used it most extensively.
