Italian armour behind the front line
IBG’s 1/72 scale kit represents the Carro Comando M14/41 fitted with a 13.2mm Breda Modello 31 machine gun. This specialised Italian command vehicle offers a distinctive companion to WWII tanks and Semovente self-propelled guns.
Historical background
The Carro Comando belonged to the family of command vehicles developed from Italy’s wartime medium tank chassis. Rather than retaining the standard tank’s gun turret, these vehicles were adapted to support command and communications duties, helping officers coordinate units on the battlefield.
The M14/41-based version shared its origins with the Fiat-Ansaldo medium tank family. Command vehicles played an important supporting role alongside Italian armoured formations and Semovente units, where communication and control mattered as much as the firepower of the fighting vehicles themselves. The 13.2mm Breda Modello 31 heavy machine gun distinguishes the configuration depicted by this kit.
