The Chevrolet C60S Petrol Tank was the fuel tanker variant of the larger CMP truck family — the vehicle that kept armoured and motorised formations fuelled on the long advances that characterised the later stages of the war. In the rush across France after the Normandy breakout, fuel supply became the critical constraint on the entire Allied advance, and petrol tankers like the C60S were driven to exhaustion by crews who knew that every litre they delivered was keeping the momentum going. The distinctive tanker body gives this model an immediately recognisable profile quite different from the cargo and personnel carriers in the same family.
