The Cromwell ARV converted the tank's proven Meteor-powered chassis into an armoured recovery vehicle, providing the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers with the speed and protection needed to retrieve damaged tanks under fire. Equipped with a winch and recovery equipment in place of the main gun, the Cromwell ARV worked alongside gun-armed Cromwells in armoured regiments, essential for maintaining operational tank strength by recovering vehicles that would otherwise be lost. Recovery vehicles are the unsung heroes of armoured warfare, and IBG's 1/72 kit gives this overlooked but essential variant its due with accurate REME markings and the distinctive open-topped or winch-equipped turret configuration.
