The Crusader Mk.II addressed the most glaring weakness of the original by removing the problematic secondary turret and using the space to improve crew conditions and stowage. Still armed with the 2-pounder, it fought at Gazala, Tobruk, and El Alamein as the backbone of British armoured strength in North Africa's most dramatic battles, where its speed could outflank enemy positions even when its gun struggled to penetrate German armour. The Mk.II represents the Crusader at the height of its operational service — battle-worn, sun-bleached, and essential. IBG's 1/72 kit captures this specific variant with its revised turret configuration and the full range of 8th Army markings that characterise the type in 1942.
