The Crusader Mk.III finally gave British tank crews in the desert the weapon they had been demanding — a 6-pounder gun capable of taking on the Panzer III and Panzer IV at reasonable combat ranges. By the time it reached the front in mid-1942, the days of the Western Desert campaign were already numbered, but the Mk.III fought at Second Alamein and in the pursuit to Tunisia, and was still in service as a training and support tank long after the desert war ended. It represents the Crusader at its most capable, and IBG's 1/72 kit captures the 6-pounder turret with the accuracy that distinguishes this manufacturer's approach to British armour subjects.
