The Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 was the Luftwaffe's finest piston-engined fighter of the war — the "long-nose" Dora that combined the Fw 190's formidable handling and firepower with the Junkers Jumo 213A inline engine to produce an aircraft capable of matching the best Allied fighters at altitude. The Cottbus early production boxing represents aircraft built at the Focke-Wulf factory in Cottbus, with the production details and markings specific to the earliest D-9s that entered service in late 1944. A landmark German fighter kit from IBG, capturing one of the most eagerly modelled Luftwaffe subjects with their characteristic attention to variant-specific detail.
The Dora — the Fw 190 that finally gave the Luftwaffe a high-altitude answer to the Spitfire and Mustang.
