Poland’s modern eight-wheeled workhorse
IBG’s 1/72 scale KTO Rosomak Polish APC brings a distinctive subject from contemporary Polish armour to the modelling bench. Kit 72137 represents the Rosomak family, whose eight-wheeled layout has become closely associated with Poland’s modern armed forces.
Historical background
The Rosomak is the Polish development of the Finnish Patria AMV, manufactured under licence in Poland. Its name means “wolverine”, while KTO stands for Kołowy Transporter Opancerzony, meaning wheeled armoured personnel carrier. Selected by Poland in 2002, the vehicle entered service during the following years as part of the modernisation of its mechanised forces.
The Rosomak family includes troop-carrying, combat and specialist support variants. Polish deployments to Afghanistan brought the vehicle to wider attention and helped shape adaptations to protection and operational equipment. Its story reflects the move towards mobile, wheeled armoured platforms within Poland’s NATO-era armed forces.
