The IAR 80 was Romania's own fighter design — one of the few genuinely indigenous combat aircraft developed in Eastern Europe, and a capable aircraft that compared well with contemporary designs when it entered service in 1941. This "Barbarossa 1941" boxing packages the early IAR.80 and the IAR.80A variant together, covering the aircraft as it fought on the Eastern Front in 1941 during Operation Barbarossa when Romanian forces advanced alongside the Wehrmacht into the Soviet Union. Two variants, two distinct marking options, and a relatively unknown but historically significant subject that IBG treats with the authority of a manufacturer based in the region.
