The Scammell Pioneer was Britain's heavy artillery tractor and tank transporter of the Second World War — a massively powerful vehicle designed to move loads that would defeat any conventional truck. In tank transporter configuration with the TRMU30 semi-trailer, the Pioneer could carry a Matilda, Valentine, or Crusader tank on its back, saving the tank's tracks and engine hours by road-marching it to the battle area on wheels rather than under its own power. The Scammell Pioneer with trailer is one of the most physically impressive British military vehicle combinations of the war, and IBG's 1/72 kit captures both tractor and trailer in a combination that dominates any display it appears in.
