K5054 was the prototype Spitfire — the aircraft that flew for the first time on 5 March 1936 at Eastleigh aerodrome with Mutt Summers at the controls and changed aviation history. The Type 300 prototype had a different engine cowling, a two-bladed fixed-pitch propeller, and a number of other features that distinguished it from production Mk.I aircraft, giving it a unique appearance that enthusiasts will immediately recognise. IBG's First Flight boxing represents the aircraft as it appeared on that historic day in March 1936, making it one of the most historically specific and meaningful Spitfire kits available at any scale.

The prototype that changed history — K5054 on the day the Spitfire first flew, 5 March 1936.
