The Ford Model T Light Car Patrol (LCP) armed with a Vickers machine gun was used by the British in the Middle East and Palestine campaigns of the First World War — an early armed vehicle that represented one of the first systematic uses of motor vehicles in a combat role and foreshadowed the armoured car and light vehicle traditions that would dominate desert warfare for decades. The Model T's reliability and simple mechanics made it ideal for the harsh conditions of desert operations, and the Vickers MG mounting gave it a genuine offensive capability. An unusual and historically rich subject that sits at the intersection of automotive history and military history.
