The Fiat CR.42 Falco in Luftwaffe service is one of the more extraordinary combinations in Second World War aviation — Germany operating Italy's biplane fighter for night harassment and light ground attack duties on the Eastern Front and elsewhere, at a time when all other major air forces had long since transitioned to monoplane combat aircraft. The CR.42 LW (Luftwaffe) was used in the Störkampfstaffel harassment role, flying slow, quiet, low-level nuisance raids at night that kept Soviet troops awake and disrupted rear-area operations. ICM's 1/32 boxing with German pilots adds the human element to this remarkable story of a biplane fighting a modern war.
