ICM's Gulaschkanone with cook figures takes the German mobile field kitchen set a step further, adding the soldiers who operated this essential piece of logistics equipment and transforming it from a vehicle model into a complete and animated diorama scene. The field kitchen cooks — Feldköche — worked long hours to prepare hot meals under all conditions, and their contribution to morale and fighting effectiveness was as significant as any weapon. Adding figures to the field kitchen creates an immediate story: the smell of hot food, the queue of soldiers waiting with their mess tins, the small moments of normality that sustained men through the abnormality of war.
