Operation Gothic Serpent — the Battle of Mogadishu on 3–4 October 1993 — was one of the most intense urban combat actions involving American forces since Vietnam, in which US Army Rangers and Delta Force operators fought their way through Mogadishu over eighteen hours to rescue their comrades after two Black Hawk helicopters were shot down. The operation, immortalised in Mark Bowden's book and the Ridley Scott film, involved MH-60 Black Hawk and AH-6 Little Bird helicopters operating at extremely low level in dense urban terrain under intense fire. ICM's 1/48 boxing captures the helicopter types involved in a set themed around this defining American special operations action.
